Rebuilding after the fire
Pacific Palisades is part of the City of Los Angeles: permits are issued by LADBS and power comes from LADWP. After the January 2025 fire, LADWP plans to move Palisades neighborhoods to underground power lines in phases. For homes being rebuilt now, LADBS and LADWP ask owners and contractors to prepare the electrical service for that change:
- a combination service panel that accepts both overhead and underground service (up to 400 A);
- one 3-inch conduit from the panel to the front property line, buried under driveways so it will not need trenching later;
- a meter spot request and a meeting with an LADWP Electric Service Representative before installation, with inspections of the conduit and the panel before the walls are closed.
We wire rebuilds to these requirements, pull the LADBS permits and coordinate with LADWP, so the house is ready for underground service when the block is converted.
For homes that are still standing
Homes that survived the fire may still need attention: panels and wiring checked after smoke, heat or long outages, backup power for future outages, and EV chargers.

Questions and Answers
What panel do I need for a Palisades rebuild?
LADWP asks for a combination panel that accepts both overhead and underground service, rated up to 400 A, so the house can switch to underground power later without replacing the panel.
Do I need to run conduit to the street?
Yes. The current guidance is one 3-inch conduit from the panel to the front property line, buried under any driveway, so the connection can be made without breaking up hardscape later.
Can you coordinate with LADWP?
Yes. We handle the meter spot request, the pre-construction meeting with LADWP and the inspections.
